The Czech Republic took part in the Summer Olympics in the Greek capital, Athens, with 142 athletes, 62 women and 80 men.

Since 1996 it was the third participation of the Czech Republic in the Summer Olympic Games .

Flag bearer

The freestyle swimmer Květoslav Svoboda carried the flag of the Czech Republic during the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium .

Medals

With a recovered gold, three silver and five bronze medals the Czech team was ranked 42 in the medal count .
