The Switzerland participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics in the Greek capital Athens with 98 athletes, 40 women and 58 men, in part.

Since 1896 , it was Switzerland's 25th participation in the Summer Olympic Games . This made Switzerland, along with Australia , Greece , France and the United Kingdom, one of the five nations that had previously participated in all the Summer Olympics.

Flag bearer

Tennis player Roger Federer wore the flag of Switzerland during the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium , at the closing ceremony it was carried by Olympic fencing champion Marcel Fischer .

Medals

Each with a recovered gold and silver and three bronze medals, the Swiss team was ranked 46 in the medal count .
