Petra Henzi
Petra Henzi (born October 14, 1969 in Rombach ) is a former Swiss mountain biker .
Career
In 1999, Petra Henzi joined the Fischer-BMC team, to which she was a member until she retired in 2010. She achieved her first top placement at the 2001 European Mountain Bike Championships in St. Wendel , where she came fourth in cross-country . In 2002 she won the bronze medal with the relay at the World Championships in Kaprun . She achieved her best individual World Cup placement in 2005 when she won the bronze medal in cross-country in Livigno, Italy . At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 , she reached sixth place in cross-country. She was also on the squad in Athens four years earlier , but was injured there during a training drive and could not take part in the competition. Her greatest sporting success was the marathon world championship title 2007 in Verviers , where she celebrated a double victory in Switzerland together with Christoph Sauser . She also won a total of seven titles at the Swiss championships in the disciplines of cross-country, mountain bike marathon and cyclo-cross .
In 2008, Henzi was nominated for the choice of Swiss Sportswoman of the Year . However, the award went to gymnast Ariella Kaeslin .
