The 2006 Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships took place in Oisans , France , on August 13th .

A total of 96 drivers were able to classify. The Swiss Christoph Sauser had to give up the race due to a defect. The best Austrian was Alban Lakata in 10th place, directly followed by Karl Platt as the best German in 11th place.
