Alban Lakata (born June 25, 1979 in Lienz ) is an Austrian mountain bike rider .
Athletic career
In 2000 Alban Lakata, nicknamed Albanator , started a mountain bike marathon for the first time . At the 2004 European Mountain Bike Marathon Championships, he won the bronze medal. In 2008 he won the gold medal at the European Marathon Championships in Albstadt . In 2009 he just missed the world championship title in the MTB marathon, where he was only beaten by Roel Paulissen from Belgium.
In 2010 , 2015 and 2017, Lakata won the title at the UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships .
In 2015 he was Austrian marathon champion for the fifth time.
At the 2018 Marathon World Championships , the then 39-year-old East Tyrolean was involved in a mass fall and ended up having to be content with twelfth place. Alban Lakata has been part of Team Bulls alongside Karl Platt since the 2019 season .
