The 2008 Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships took place on July 4th and 5th in Niederdorf ( South Tyrol ) in Italy .

A total of 101 drivers were able to classify. Actually, Christoph Sauser won the race and would have become the first double world champion in mountain biking after his success at the Mountain Bike World Championships in Val di Sole . However, he was held responsible for the fall in the finish sprint with Roel Paulissen and therefore downgraded to 2nd place after the race.

The best German was Karl Platt in 11th, 15: 43.9 minutes behind. The best Austrian was Alban Lakata in 16th place, 21: 37.1 minutes behind.
