Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå (* 10. February 1973 in Stavanger as Gunn-Rita Dahle ) is a Norwegian mountain biker .

Athletic career

Gunn-Rita Dahle grew up in Bjørheimsbygd, Strand municipality , east of Stavanger. In 1995 she was the first national champion on the mountain bike, in cross country . Since then she has been European and world champion in cross country and marathon several times . She won the World Cup five times and was Norwegian champion eight times (as of 2014).

Dahle competed five times at the Olympic Games: At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , she won the gold medal in cross country, after having finished fourth in Atlanta in 1996, eight years earlier . In 2016 , she took tenth place. In 2008 and 2012 she could not finish the races.

Honors

Gunn-Rita Dahle was honored with the induction into the Hall of Fame of the European cycling association Union Européenne de Cyclisme . She is an athlete ambassador for the development aid organization Right to Play . In 2004 she was awarded the Aftenposten gold medal.
