Julie Bresset (* 9. June 1989 in Saint-Brieuc ) is a French mountain bike - cyclist and Olympic champion in this sport (2012).

Career

Bresset began mountain biking at the age of nine, having previously done dancing and gymnastics . She got her first racing license in 1998 as a member of the VTT Côtes d'Armor cycling club in Hillion . She later switched to Equipe Breiz Mountain and became French MTB Junior Champion for this team in 2007.

In 2008 Breiz Mountain became a UCI MTB team and Bresset took part in her first World Cup races with this team after her transition to the U23 age group.

In 2010 she switched to the BH-Suntour-Peisey Vallandry team and became a French MTB champion in the elite category for the first time. She was able to repeat this success in 2011 and 2012.

In 2011 she was the overall winner of the World Cup series in cross-country and ended the year in first place in the UCI World Ranking in this discipline among the women's elite.

At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London , she won the gold medal in the cross-country race with a sovereign start-to-finish victory.

At the Mountain Bike World Championships in 2012 and 2013 , she won the title in cross-country.

After Bressot was suspended in the 2017 season. In November 2017 she declared her return to competitive sport with the aim of participating in the 2020 Summer Olympics .
