The 25th Mountain Bike World Championships took place from August 29 to September 9, 2012 in Leogang and Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer in Austria . After the title fights in Kaprun and Zell am See in 2002, Austria hosted the Mountain Bike World Championships for the second time. There were decisions in the disciplines of Cross Country , Downhill , Four Cross and Trials on the program. Compared to the last World Championships in 2011 , three more titles were awarded with the competitions in the Cross Country Eliminator for men and women and the Trials Mixed Team competition. For this reason and because of the division into two venues, the World Cup program was extended to twelve days for the first time.

A total of over 750 drivers from 47 nations took part in the world championships. In the run-up to the World Cup, the organizers had expected around 30,000 spectators, in the end over 43,500 came to the competitions. Around 600 volunteers were on duty at the event. The organizers had a budget of 1.4 million euros available for this.

On August 29, 2012 at around 7:00 p.m., the Mountain Bike World Championships were officially opened on the Rathausplatz in Saalfelden. After a few introductory words by the 2nd Deputy Governor David Brenner , the mayors of Saalfelden ( Günter Schied ) and Leogang ( Helga Hammerschmied-Rathgeb ), as well as an official representative of the UCI , all nations marched into the town hall square with their World Cup participants . The first part of the competition then took place from August 31st to September 2nd in Leogang, where the four cross and downhill competitions were decided. After a day of rest, the trials competitions in the center of Saalfelden continued on September 4th. From September 6th, the first decisions in Cross Country were made in Saalfelden. The title fights were finally ended on September 9th with the new World Cup discipline Cross Country Eliminator.

The Switzerland was successful with six titles nation of the tournament, followed by France and Spain with four and three gold medals. With one gold and a total of six medals, Germany took fourth place in the medal table; the host Austria won only one bronze medal through Daniel Federspiel .

In the remaining three laps she managed to make up five places, but in the end she was half a minute short of the medal ranks. A total of 58 drivers took part in the race, five of whom gave up prematurely.
