David Brenner (born March 31, 1971 in Salzburg ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 2007 to 2013 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Salzburg .

education

After attending the Parsch elementary school and the first two classes at the Musisches Gymnasium in Salzburg, he moved to Linz with his parents. There he graduated from the Bundesrealgymnasium Linz Fadingerstraße and was involved as head of school. After completing his military service at Vogler Air Base in Hörsching near Linz, he began studying political science , journalism and law at the University of Salzburg . He graduated with distinction in January 2000.

Political career

Brenner joined the SPÖ in 1993, in 1998 he became head of the Dr. Karl Renner Institute in Salzburg , before that he worked as a budget manager in an advertising agency. In April 1999, Brenner was sworn in for the first time as a member of the Salzburg state parliament . Since April 2004 he has been the club chairman of the SPÖ in the Salzburg state parliament, where he is a financial, cultural and educational spokesman. Since 2005 he was Gabi Burgstaller's deputy in the Salzburg SPÖ and chairman of state education. On December 13, 2007 he was elected by the Salzburg State Parliament as Deputy Governor and State Councilor for Finance & Real Estate, Culture and Sport.

In the course of the Salzburg speculation scandal, in which speculation by his department probably lost 340 million euros in tax money, Brenner announced his resignation on December 14, 2012 after he had been criticized by the other state parliament parties for his hesitant information policy in the context of the scandal. Brenner resigned from all political offices on January 23, 2013.
