Steve "Stevie" Smith (born November 25, 1989 in Cassidy , British Columbia , † May 10, 2016 in Nanaimo , British Columbia) was a Canadian mountain biker .

In 2010, Stevie Smith was runner-up in downhill world champion at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Mont Sainte-Anne , and in 2012 he finished third. In 2013 he became the Canadian champion in mountain bike downhill, was second in the UCI ranking in this discipline and won the World Cup, which consisted of six runs.

In December 2013, Steve Smith was named Canada's Cyclist of the Year . His nickname in the media was The Canadian Chainsaw ('The Canadian Chainsaw').

In May 2016, Smith suffered serious brain injuries in a motorcycle accident. A few days later he died of the consequences in his hometown of Nanaimo.
