Maja Martyna Włoszczowska (born November 9, 1983 in Warsaw ) is a Polish mountain bike marathon rider.

Career

She started cycling in Karpacz , her coach was Zdzisław Szmit . In 1999 she became the Polish road climbing champion. Maja Włoszczowska had her first major success in 2000 with second place at the World Junior Championships in the Spanish Sierra Nevadas . In 2002 she began studying financial mathematics at the Wrocław University of Technology ( Politechnika Wrocławska ) in the Department of Fundamental Problems of Technology . A short time later she became a member of the Polish lottery team, but continued to study and graduated after five and a half years.

In 2003 she became the first female mountain bike marathon world champion . In 2007 Lotto ended its support and Maja Włoszczowska's new team became the MTB Halls team . Today she starts together with the Swiss Jolanda Neff for the Liv Pro XC Team .

At the 2008 Summer Olympics , she won the silver medal behind Sabine Spitz .

In June 2015 she was third at the European Games in Baku.

In July 2018, the then 34-year-old Polish woman won her fourth World Cup victory after six years in Val di Sole (Italy) ahead of the Canadian Emily Batty and the Swiss Jolanda Neff .
