Emily Batty (born June 16, 1988 in Brooklin , Ontario ) is a Canadian cross-country mountain biker . She became the 2014 Pan American Games Champion and won the 2014 Commonwealth Games silver medal .

Career

Emily Batty started cycling in 1999 and took part in the 2001 Canada Cup series. She took part in the 2010 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup for Trek World Racing . She joined the Subaru Trek Team in 2011.

At the 2012 Summer Olympics , she competed in Women's Cross-Country at Hadleigh Farm with a broken collarbone and injured shoulders , finishing in 24th place. She was part of the Trek Factory Racing Team in 2013. After the Olympics, she made it onto the podium at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow . She won the gold medal at the Pan American Games in 2015.

In 2016 she won the bronze medal at the Mountain Bike World Championships, at the Summer Olympics in Rio she was fourth and the World Cup finished third. In addition, she was Canadian champion in cross country.

In July 2018, the 30-year-old finished second in the World Cup in Val di Sole (Italy) behind Maja Włoszczowska from Poland .

Private

Emily Batty grew up in a cycling family. She has two older brothers and a younger sister who all take part in cycling races. During her races, she wears a pearl necklace that she found on her mother's jewelry when she was eleven. She is coached by Adam Morka , whom she got engaged to in 2011 and whom she married in 2015.
