Christoph Sauser (born April 13, 1976 in Sigriswil ) is a former Swiss mountain biker .

Athletic career

His greatest successes include winning ten mountain bike world cup races in cross country and winning the overall World Cup in 2004 and 2005. At the Olympic Games in Sydney (2000) he won the bronze medal in this discipline. He won his first world title in 2007 at the mountain bike marathon world championships . In 2008 he became world champion in cross country , having previously finished second twice and third once. At the marathon world championships in 2008 he was relegated to second place after he was accused of bringing down Roel Paulissen in the finish sprint . In 2013 he won his second marathon title. Sauser also won six Swiss championships and was European champion in the U23 category in 1998 .

In 2015, Sauser won the South African Cape Epic race together with Jaroslav Kulhavý . It was his fifth victory, which makes him a record holder with Karl Platt . His last race was the 2015 World Marathon Championship, where he finished second.
