The Marco Polo Cycling Donckers Koffie is a former Ethiopian cycling team based in the Netherlands .
The team had been licensed as a Continental Team since 2005 and until the end of the 2011 season mainly participated in races on the UCI Asia Tour . The manager is Gudo Kramer . He is supported by Remko Kramer , Edward De Weerdt, Gilbert De Weerdt and Rudi Dubois as sporting directors. Since November 2006 there has been a cooperation with the US ProTeam Discovery Channel , which however dissolved at the end of the 2007 season. The first driver to switch to the ProTeam was the Chinese Fuyu Li . The Continental Team rode under the name Marco Polo Cycling Team until the end of the 2006 season , in 2007 as Discovery Channel-Marco Polo , from 2008 to 2009 as Trek-Marco Polo and 2010 to 2011 as Marco Polo Cycling Team .
For the 2012 season, the team signed a number of Ethiopian riders with the aim of developing cycling in this country. Due to the majority of Ethiopian drivers, the team was also registered as the first Ethiopian Continental Team. It will mainly compete in races in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Southern Europe, Africa and Asia. The most famous driver was former Tour de France stage winner Léon van Bon . Donckers Koffie was won as the second name sponsor , which means that the team could be expanded to 19 drivers and will now also contest an extensive European racing program.
The team has not had a UCI license since 2013.
