Sports

Robert Mennen has been a professional cyclist in the Topeak-Ergon Racing Team since 2009 . In mountain biking he runs the marathon discipline and occasionally the Olympic cross country discipline . His home club is the BSV Profil Hürtgenwald .

His fall at the largest mountain bike stage race, the ABSA Cape Epic, caused a sensation in 2013 . There he collided with an antelope on the first stage after he had previously finished the prologue with his teammate Alban Lakata in fourth place. He then had to end the race with a broken collarbone. His team partner Alban Lakata then finished the race outside of the classification.

A year later Robert was able to win the "Tour de France for mountain bikers", as the Cape Epic is often called, together with his team-mate Kristian Hynek (CZ).
