Seppo Hannu Antero Repo (born September 21, 1947 in Joensuu ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player and coach. In 1990 he was inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame.
Career
As a player
Seppo Repo began his career in his hometown at Jokipojat , where he first played in the youth teams and from the 1965/66 season in the senior team. With the team he rose to the second-class 1st division this season , where he was active for the club for another year. From 1967 to 1970 he then played for the league competitor Savonlinnan Pallokerho , where he celebrated his second promotion in 1968, this time to the SM-sarja . In the years up to 1976 Repo was active for various teams in the top Finnish league, including three years for TPS . During this time, the left shooter established himself as one of the best players in the league and took part in two All-Star games. He was also named top scorer in the 1974/75 season and player of the year in Finland the following year. However, he could not celebrate any successes with his teams.
For the 1976/77 season , Repo moved to the World Hockey Association for the Phoenix Roadrunners . Despite good performance, his contract was not renewed and he returned to Europe. Until 1983 he played another three years in the SM-liiga, where he won the runner-up with TPS in the 1981/82 season . A year earlier he was under contract for one year at EHC 70 Munich in the ice hockey Bundesliga . Since he no longer achieved the strength of previous years and his statistics were also in decline, the now 36-year-old Repo moved to the 1st division for the 1983/84 season. Until the end of his career in 1989, he was almost exclusively there for various teams. This time was only interrupted by a year in the Danish Eliteserien , where he became Danish champions with Herning IK in the 1986/87 season .

He achieved the greatest success in the first five participations in the years 1971 to 1975, where Finland took fourth place. In 1975 only the goal difference decided on third place between Sweden and Finland, as the direct comparison had ended in a draw. In addition, Repo played with the national team at the 1972 Olympic Games in Sapporo , where he finished fifth with the team. He received his last nomination for the national team at the age of 35, but only finished fifth with the Finnish selection at the 1982 World Cup and was therefore unable to win a medal at any tournament.
