Daniel Bell (* 1967 in Sacramento , California ) is an American techno - musicians and DJ .

Life

Daniel Bell was born in Sacramento, but grew up near Toronto ( Canada on). Through Detroit radio stations he discovered the new Detroit techno music for himself in the 1980s . He became more and more interested in music and got a job in a recording studio . Here he also began to produce his own tracks . He finally moved to Detroit in the late 1980s. There he was signed to Richie Hawtin's label Plus 8 Records . For Plus 8 he produced some singles. Under the pseudonym Cybersonik he released together with Richie Hawtin and John Acquaviva , on Hawtin's label rehearsal together with him and Fred Giannelli as spawn . In 1992 Bell founded his own label: Accelerate , on which he published under the pseudonym DBX . Bell has been a master of reduced techno and house music since his early works . He is one of the pioneers of minimalist house music, often referred to as minimal . His tracks particularly inspired German minimal house producers.

In 1994 the single Losing Control (also under the pseudonym DBX ) was released on Accelerate and the English Peacefrog label. It was a surprise success and helped Bell to gain worldwide fame within the techno and house scene.

He founded three other record labels: 7th City , Elevate and Harmonie Park . From 7th City soon developed a worldwide sales for Detroit techno. The company gave Bell little time for its manufacturing career. It wasn't until 1996 that more tracks appeared on DS , Klang Elektronik and Accelerate . A little later, 7th City was dissolved and Daniel Bell has since concentrated more on producing techno and house music. After a few tracks produced for the Berlin Tresor label, Bell moved to the German capital in 2000 and shortly afterwards released his first mix CD in the Globus series on Tresor : The Button-Down Mind of Daniel Bell .

In recent years he has mainly worked as a remixer . Some remixes appeared on German house labels such as Ladomat 2000 , Poker Flat Recordings and Force Inc. Music Works . Lately he's been DJing under the pseudonym Dan Bell . Musically, Bell moved from harder, repetitive techno structures during his time in Detroit more and more in the direction of tech house and minimal house. A development that intensified with his stay in Berlin.
