Patric Suter

Patric Suter (born May 17, 1977 in Schaffhausen ) is a former Swiss athlete . He is the Swiss record holder in hammer throw .

Life

Suter, who lives in Winterthur , started for the Hochwacht Zug club , his coach was the former Russian top hammer thrower Wassili Sidorenko .

Although Suter had met the limits for the 2007 World Athletics Championships in Osaka , he was not selected by Swiss Athletics . According to Swiss Athletics, Suter did not obey the rules because he did not take part in the Swiss championship. In addition , Suter , who trained in Georgia , had not met his duty to report to the Commission for Combating Doping.

Due to the quarrels, Suter announced his retirement from top-class sport in December 2007 after a three-month doping ban .

Arrest and conviction / appeal

On June 19, 2009, Suter was arrested on June 5, 2009 in Grenchen as one of three alleged perpetrators of triple robbery and murder (so-called “Schenkkreis murders”) on a family . In August 2009, Suter confessed to the couple's murder. As it turned out in the course of the investigation, Suter belonged to the same gift group as the murder victims and was in financial difficulties that could be traced back to his drug addiction . On May 25, 2012, Suter and the two other defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment by the Solothurn-Lebern District Court for multiple murders and other offenses . The court saw greed as the motive for the crime . All three convicts appealed against the verdict, the Solothurn Higher Court upheld the verdict in January 2014. The verdict was taken to the federal court . In the judgments published on February 12, 2015, the Federal Supreme Court came to the conclusion that the lower instance proceeded correctly and that the judgments were not arbitrary. All three judgments were thus confirmed by the Federal Supreme Court.
