Portugal took part in the 2004 Summer Olympics in the Greek capital, Athens, with 81 athletes, 17 women and 64 men.

Since 1912 it was Portugal's 21st participation in the Summer Olympics .

Flag bearer

The judoka Nuno Delgado carried the flag of Portugal during the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium ; at the closing ceremony it was carried by canoeist Emanuel Silva .

Medalist

With two won silver and a bronze medal, the Portuguese team was ranked 60 in the medal count .
