Portugal took part in the 2008 Beijing Olympics with a delegation of 129 people, including 78 athletes. For the Portuguese team, it was the 22nd participation in a row sincePortuguese athletes first competed in the Olympic Games in 1912 . The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the athlete Nelson Évora .

The team of the Comité Olímpico de Portugal won two medals in Beijing: Nelson Évora won gold in the triple jump, Vanessa Fernandes came second in the triathlon.
