Inês Monteiro

Inês Monteiro ( Inês Alexandra das Neves Monteiro ; born May 5, 1980 in Ramela , Guarda ) is a Portuguese long-distance runner .

So far, she has been national champion four times over 1500 m and once each over 5000 m and 10,000 m .

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, she was eliminated over 5000 m in the preliminary run. A year later she came in 13th place in the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in the 3000 meter obstacle course .

In 2008 she was fifth in the Rotterdam Marathon and qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing , but in whose marathon she did not reach the finish.

At the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin, she was tenth over 10,000 m. Two months later she won the Great South Run over 10 miles with the national best time of 52:32 min.

Inês Monteiro is 1.59 m tall and weighs 46 kg. She starts for the Maratona Clube de Portugal and is trained by Pedro Martins.
