Tajikistan took in 2008 in Beijing for the fourth time at Summer Olympics in part. The first participation was in 1996. The country competed with 13 athletes in eight different sports.

Rassul Boqiyev's bronze medal in judo was the first ever Olympic medal for Tajikistan.
