- | 1 | - |
With its participation in the Summer Olympics in Beijing in 2008 , Samoa has been represented at the Olympic Games without interruption since 1984 and has competed for the 7th time. Samoa sent six athletes in six sports. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the weightlifter Ele Opeloge .
In August 2016, during a large-scale follow-up examination of the athletes from 2008, it was found that the previous silver and bronze winners, the Ukrainian Olha Korobka and the Kazakh Marija Grabowezkaja, had achieved their successes by means of doping . As a result, both were disqualified and their medals were redistributed. Ele Opeloge received silver and became the first Olympic champion in her home country.
