Medal table

Olha Korobka ( Ukrainian Ольга Василівна Коробка ; born December 7, 1985 in Bobrowyzja ) is a Ukrainian weightlifter . According to the organizers of the Olympic Games in Beijing, the 1.81 m tall athlete, who was subsequently disqualified from the Games, weighed almost 167 kg in the competition and was the heaviest participating lifter. Korobka was also known as a repeat offender.

Career

For Ukraine Olha Korobka won three bronze medals at the 2003 World Cup , World Cup 2006 and World Cup 2007 . At the European Championships Korobka won three gold medals in 2006, 2007 and 2008. At the European Championships 2010 she took second place with 273 kg (= 123 kg + 150 kg) behind the Russian Tatyana Kaschirina , who was 76.20 kg lower in body weight in the overall rating 297 kg (= 135 kg + 162 kg). Due to the high body weight, Korobka's performance would only mean 4th place according to relative points, which are specified in the official result.

Korobka achieved her personal best at the 2005 World Championships with 287 kg in a duel (127 kg + 160 kg), which was only enough for 4th place behind the equally powerful but lighter American Cheryl Haworth ; however, the performance in the tear meant third place.

Her bronze medal was revoked and she was banned from the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) from November 13, 2011 to November 13, 2013 for doping . In 2016, the IOC announced that Korobka had already been doped at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing .
