Botswana took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics in the Chinese capital Beijing with eleven athletes, two women and nine men, in three sports.
Since 1980 in Moscow it was the eighth participation of a team from Botswana in the Summer Olympics .
Flag bearer
The swimmer Samantha Paxinos carried the Botswana flag during the opening ceremony in the national stadium ; at the closing ceremony it was worn by the boxer Khumiso Ikgopoleng .
