Venezuela took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing for the 16th time in the Summer Olympic Games. The Venezuelan delegation consisted of 108 athletes, 51 athletes and 57 athletes, the largest groups being the men's and women's volleyball teams and the softball team. In the individual sports, the swimmers made up the largest contingent with 13 participants. Dalia Contreras won the only medal, the eleventh in Venezuela's Olympic history.

The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the softball player María Soto .
