Venezuela took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . It was the 18th participation in the Summer Olympics.

The Comité Olímpico Venezolano nominated 87 athletes in 20 sports. The standard bearer at the opening ceremony was the sword fencer Rubén Limardo , 2012 Olympic champion .
