Puerto Rico took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . It was the 18th participation in the Summer Olympics. The Comité Olímpico de Puerto Rico nominated 40 athletes in 15 sports.

The tennis player Monica Puig won the individual first woman ever Olympic gold for Puerto Rico.
