Montenegro took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . It was the third overall participation in the Summer Olympics. The Crnogorski olimpijski committee nominated 35 athletes in 7 sports.

The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the handball player Bojana Popović .
