Georgia took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . It was the seventh participation in the Summer Olympics. The Georgian National Olympic Committee nominated 40 athletes in eleven sports.

The standard bearer at the opening ceremony was the judoka Awtandil Tschrikishvili . The weightlifter Lascha Talachadze represented the delegation at the closing ceremony .
