Entry of the Georgian delegation

Georgia registered eight athletes to participate in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada . On the first day of the Games, before the opening ceremony, tobogganist Nodar Kumaritashvili died after falling during training. The Georgian team initially considered staying away from the games, but then decided to participate. Only the second reported toboggan runner , Lewan Gureschidze , did not start. The opening ceremony was held in memory of the crashed toboggan runner, he was remembered during the opening speeches and a minute's silence was observed in his honor.
