Rwanda took part inthe 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . It was the eighth total participation in the Summer Olympics. The Comité National Olympique et Sportif du Rwanda nominated seven athletes in four sports.

The standard bearer at the opening ceremony was the cyclist Adrien Niyonshuti .
