Tanzania took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . It was the 13th participation in the Summer Olympics. The Tanzania Olympic Committee nominated seven athletes in three sports.

The standard bearer at the opening ceremony was judoka Andrew Thomas Mlugu .
