Tuvalu took part inthe 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . It was the third overall participation in the Summer Olympics.
The Tuvalu Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee nominated only one athlete, Etimoni Timuani , making it the smallest delegation at the Games. Timuani was therefore also the flag bearer at the opening ceremony .
