Sri Lanka took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . It was the 17th participation in the Summer Olympics. The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka nominated nine athletes in six sports.
The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the marathon runner Anuradha Cooray .
