Sri Lanka took part in the 2000 Summer Olympics in the Australian metropolis of Sydney with 18 athletes, nine women and nine men, in four sports.
Since 1948 it was the thirteenth participation of the Asian state in the Summer Olympics .
Flag bearer
Track and field athlete Damayanthi Dharsha carried the Sri Lankan flag during the opening ceremony at Stadium Australia .
