São Tomé and Príncipe took part in the 2000 Summer Olympics in the Australian metropolis of Sydney with two athletes, a woman and a man, in a sport.

After 1996 it was the second participation of the African state in the Summer Olympic Games .

Flag bearer

Track and field athlete Naide Gomes carried the São Tomé and Príncipe flag during the opening ceremony at Stadium Australia .
