Turkmenistan took part in the 2000 Summer Olympics in the Australian metropolis of Sydney with eight athletes, four women and four men, in six sports.
After 1996 , it was the Asian state's second participation in the Summer Olympics .

The discus thrower Çary Mämmedow carried the flag of Turkmenistan during the opening ceremony at Stadium Australia .
