Denmark took part in the 2000 Summer Olympics in the Australian metropolis of Sydney with 97 athletes, 44 women and 53 men, in 16 sports.
Since 1896 it was the 23rd participation of the northern European state in the Summer Olympics .
Flag bearer
The sailor Jesper Bank carried the flag of Denmark during the opening ceremony at Stadium Australia ; at the closing ceremony it was worn by the marksman Torben Grimmel .
Medalist
With two won gold, three silver and one bronze medal, the Danish team finished 30th place in the medal table .
