Karen Brødsgaard (born March 10, 1978 in Horsens , Denmark ) is a former Danish handball player who currently works as a trainer .
Career
The 1.78 m tall circle player last played for the Danish first division club Aalborg DH . Before that, she worked for Ikast-Bording EH , Larvik HK , Viborg HK , Horsens HK , Gedved and Stensballe.
She made her international debut for the Danish national team on February 25, 1998. Brødsgaard played 140 international matches, in which she scored 288 goals. With the national team, she won two Olympic gold medals and one European championship. Before that, she also played in the Danish junior selection, with which she won a world championship and a European championship.
After finishing her playing career, Brødsgaard took over as assistant coach at Aalborg DH in 2010. In January 2012, she resigned from this post. In the summer of 2016, she became an assistant trainer at the Swedish first division club Alingsås HK . From July 2018 to February 2019, she coached the Danish first division club EH Aalborg . For the 2019/20 season she became an assistant coach at Odense Håndbold . After Odense lost the Danish Cup final in December 2019, she took over as coach. Since the 2020/21 season she has been back at Odense as an assistant coach.
