Nauru took part in the 2000 Summer Olympics in the Australian metropolis of Sydney with three registered athletes, but only two of them competed in two sports.

After 1996 it was Naurus' second participation in the Summer Olympics .

Torch relay

The weightlifter and since 2007 President of Nauru, Marcus Stephen , carried the Olympic torch during his stopover in Nauru.

Flag bearer

Marcus Stephen also wore the Naurus flag during the opening ceremony at Stadium Australia .
