Mauritius took part in the 2000 Summer Olympics in the Australian metropolis of Sydney with 20 athletes, four women and 16 men, in eight sports.

Since 1984 it was the fifth participation of the African state in the Summer Olympics .

Flag bearer

Boxer Michael Macaque carried the Mauritius flag during the opening ceremony at Stadium Australia .
