Jonathan Chimier

Jonathan James Chimier (born August 6, 1982 ) is a Mauritian athlete who mainly appears as a long jumper . His greatest success is winning the 2004 African Championships in Brazzaville with a jump of 8.06 m with no wind. With 8.28 m he holds the Mauritian record in the long jump. At a height of 1.75 m, his competition weight is 70 kg. His club is Racing Cf Paris .

At the 1st Youth World Championships (U18) in 1999 in Bydgoszcz , he was fifth. In the same year he finished second at the African Junior Championships. In 2000 he won the national championships in Mauritius in both the 100-meter run in 10.72 s and in the long jump with 7.02 m. In 2001 in Canada he won the long jump competition at the Jeux de la Francophonie, the French-speaking counterpart to the Commonwealth Games . In 2001 he also won the long jump and the 4 x 100 meters at the African Junior Championships in Mauritius . In 2003 he won the bronze medal in the long jump at the Indian Ocean Island Games in Reduit , Mauritius. In his only Olympic participation in Athens in 2004 , he reached the final as the first athlete from Mauritius to have achieved this in Olympic history and finished tenth with 8.03 m. With his best performance of 8.28 m in qualification, he had set a new Mauritian record in Athens. In 2005 he won the long jump competition of the Sparkassen-Cup in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart . At the African Championships in Addis Ababa in 2008 , he received a silver medal with his 7.99 m. It won Yahya Berrabah .

His trainer is Victor Kuzin. Jonathan Chimier's best performance in the 100-meter run was 10.36 s, set on March 27, 2009 in Bamako . In the hall, his best distance in the long jump is 8.05 m, which he jumped on February 22, 2004 in Aubière and in the 60-meter run was 6.68 s on February 23, 2003 from Moscow . Both hall performances were a Mauritian record.
