The Indian Ocean Island Games ( French Jeux des îles de l'océan India ) are a multi-sport event on islands in the southwest of the Indian Ocean . They currently take place every four years, with Mauritius , Seychelles , Comoros , Madagascar , Mayotte , Réunion and the Maldives being participating countries. At the 2015 Games, there was a scandal in two cases, some participants and supervisors from the Comoros had not been issued visas by the French authorities in time, and officials took the national flag away from a Malagasy sportswoman at an award ceremony. Both the Comoros and Madagascar withdrew their team during the course of the tournament.
