Paul Emordi

Paul Emordi (born December 25, 1965 ) is a former Nigerian athlete who specialized in the long and triple jump . He is 1.89 m tall and weighed 80 kg when he was active.

Emordi won three gold medals at the African Championships : 1984 in Rabat in the long jump (7.90 m) and 1985 in Cairo in the long jump (also 7.90 m) and in the triple jump (16.56 m).

At the Africa Games in Nairobi in 1987 , he jumped over 8.23 ​​m, which earned him his fourth gold medal.

In the same year he took part in two world championships. At the indoor world championships in Indianapolis he won the silver medal with 8.01 m, but at the outdoor world championships in Rome he came with a moderate 7.80 m only in 16th place. He also failed in his only Olympic participation - 1984 in Los Angeles . He started in the triple jump, where 15.88 m was only enough for 21st place out of 28 participants. He stayed 90 centimeters below his best performance (16.78 m), which he had achieved a few weeks earlier in Baton Rouge .
