Zambia took part in the 2000 Summer Olympics in the Australian metropolis of Sydney with eight athletes, two women and six men, in three sports.
It was the ninth time the African state had taken part in the Summer Olympics since 1964 .
Flag bearer
Track and field athlete Samuel Matete carried the Zambian flag during the opening ceremony at Stadium Australia .
