On November 25, 1820, the diocese of Brugnato was incorporated into the diocese of Luni and Sarzana by Pope Pius VII with the Apostolic Constitution Sollicita quam .
The diocese of Brugnato was subordinate to the Archdiocese of Genoa as a suffragan .
