The Iran participated in the Summer Olympics in 2000 in the Australian city of Sydney with 35 athletes, one woman and 34 men in twelve sports part.

Since 1900 it was the thirteenth participation of the Asian state in the Summer Olympics .

Flag bearer

Wrestler Amir Reza Khadem carried the flag of Iran during the opening ceremony at the Australia Stadium .

Medals

With three won gold and a bronze medal, the Iranian team finished 27th place in the medal table .
