Pejman Dorostkar
Pejman Dorostkar (born August 18, 1976 ) is a former Iranian wrestler . He was Olympian and multiple Asian champion in free style in Welter - or middleweight .
Career
Pejman Dorostkar started wrestling in 1988 at the age of 12. He developed into a first-class freestyle wrestler who, after four years of training, took part in the Junior World Championship (Cadets = age group up to 16 years) in Istanbul in 1992 and won a bronze medal there in the welterweight division . He belonged to one of the best Iranian wrestling clubs, the Pas Tehran wrestling club. In the course of his career he had a number of coaches in the club and in the national team. The most important of these are Reza Dorostkar, Ahmat Rezaei, Hassan Ghadiri, Reza Ghorbani, Mohsen Kaveh and Mansour Barzegar . He studied sports.
In 1994 Pejman Dorostkar started at the Junior World Championships (Juniors = age group up to 18 years of age) in Budapest , but just missed a medal there with 4th place in the welterweight division. In 1994, he also launched the Grand Prix of Germany in Wiesental , but could there not place in front of the field, because he after a loss to Victor Peicov from Moldova to retire early.
It then took him a few years in Iran to assert himself with the senior citizens. In 1998 he came to his next assignment at an international championship, the World Cup in Tehran . In his hometown of all places he missed another medal with another 4th place. However, Buwaissar Saitijew from Russia , Moon Eui-jae from South Korea and Alexander Leipold from Germany placed three absolute top wrestlers in front of him, so that his 4th place was really no shame.
In 2000 Pejman Dorostkar qualified for the Olympic Games in Sydney with a 2nd place in the qualifying tournament in Mexico City . In Sydney he first defeated the Mongol Tümen-Öldsiin Mönchbajar , but was already defeated in his next fight by the Russian Gennadi Lalijew , who started for Kazakhstan . According to the regulations at that time, he had to retire and only finished 12th. According to today's regulations, since Lalijew reached the final, he could have continued to wrestle and could have won a bronze medal.
In 2001 Pejman Dorostkar was first Asian middleweight champion in Ulaanbaatar, followed by the second title win at this championship in New Delhi in 2003 . At the Asian Games 2002 in Busan , however, he only came in 5th place in the middleweight division.
In other international championships Pejman Dorostkar, who had tough competition in his weight class in Iran, was no longer used. He wrestled in the years 2003/04, 2004/05 for SV Siegfried Hallbergmoos and in the 2005/06 season for SV Wacker Burghausen in the German Bundesliga.
